Recap: Sulphur Bluff Bears vs. Saltillo Lions
The Sulphur Bluff Bears lost against the Saltillo Lions two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Sulphur Bluff took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saltillo. Sulphur Bluff has struggled against Saltillo recently, as their match on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Sulphur Bluff lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Zaylee Peyton, who scored 12 points. Another player making a difference was Skyler Sheffield, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds.
Sulphur Bluff's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Saltillo, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.
Sulphur Bluff is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Yantis at 5:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Yantis comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Saltillo, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Avery at 12:00 p.m. Avery is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.
