Everything went South Greene's way against Johnson County on Thursday as South Greene made off with a 16-2 win. That looming 16-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Rebels yet this season.
Kortnei Bailey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, South Greene got a massive performance out of Nevaeh Davis, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Whitney Reaves, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
South Greene hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, West Greene hadn't done well against Unaka recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Greene had just enough and edged out Unaka 8-7.
Like South Greene, West Greene also got a great game from a two-way player: Abigail Cluesman. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. Cluesman was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Cutshall, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Morgan Brown was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1.
The victory got West Greene back to even at 4-4. As for South Greene, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. South Greene has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .604. However, it's not like West Greene struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
