Softball Recap: Waterloo's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

Waterloo and Marion squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Waterloo had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since June 8, 2024.

Aidan Dintelman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 22 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Waterloo saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mallory Thompson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Waterloo moved to 22-5 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak. As for Marion, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season.
