Mercer came tearing into Saturday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 goals), and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Hickory Hornets a 3-0 shutout. Mercer might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by three goals or more this season.

Mercer's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Hickory, they moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mercer will square off against Wilmington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hickory, they will head out to face off against Slippery Rock at 7:00 p.m. on the 15th.
