Basketball Game Preview: River Ridge Hawks vs. Capital Cougars

The River Ridge Hawks are taking a road trip to face off against the Capital Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in River Ridge's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten matchups.

Last Friday, River Ridge didn't have too much trouble with Central Kitsap as they won 67-51. Given the Hawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while the Cougars are ranked 312th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

River Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dominique Harper led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Harper is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryzen Nunez, who went 8 of 12 on his way to 18 points.

Meanwhile, Capital lost to Lincoln at home by a 81-63 margin on Friday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Abes recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

River Ridge's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points per game. As for Capital, their loss dropped their record down to 3-9.

River Ridge strolled past Capital in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 68-51. Does River Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Capital turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
