Volleyball Recap: Johnson Ferry Christian Academy Wins Going Away Against Georgia-Cumberland Academy

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy barely beat Georgia-Cumberland Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Saints put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Saints in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won four in a row.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy was especially dominant in the second set. The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 25-19.

Laney Bentley was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 22 digs and four aces. Those four aces gave her a new career-high.

They weren't the only good server: Johnson Ferry Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in four consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Georgia-Cumberland Academy still got an impressive performance from Bela Barbosa, who had 26 digs and one block. With that strong performance, Barbosa is now averaging an impressive 10.8 digs per game. Another player making a difference was Ella Reese, who had 14 digs and one block.

Johnson Ferry Christian Academy's record is now 10-7. As for Georgia-Cumberland Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Coming up, Johnson Ferry Christian Academy will face off against Northwest Classical Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Saints are facing the Spartans at the right time seeing as the Spartans are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Georgia-Cumberland Academy, they will challenge Greater Atlanta Adventist Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
