Madison West dropped their record down to 9-16 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 9-1 to the Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Regents couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That somehow still isn't as good as their 17-5-1 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

For Vel Phillips Memorial's part, Caleb Liggon was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Liggon has posted since back in April. Ezra Liggon was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Looking ahead, Madison West will welcome Verona at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Vel Phillips Memorial, they are taking a road trip to take on Monona Grove at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
