Baseball Recap: Win-E-Mac Beats Mahnomen/Waubun for Their Fourth Straight Win

Win-E-Mac had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Mahnomen/Waubun Thunderbirds 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Braylon Hamre spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 19 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Strom, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

Win-E-Mac's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs across that stretch. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Coming up, Win-E-Mac will square off against Blackduck at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mahnomen/Waubun, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lake Park-Audubon at 2:00 p.m. The Thunderbirds are facing the Raiders at the right time seeing as the Raiders are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
