Volleyball Recap: Marina Petucci's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Altoona over Central Dauphin + How To Watch

Altoona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Central Dauphin Rams. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rams this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

Altoona wouldn't go down easily and took Central Dauphin into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking 11-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-13, 21-25, 25-27, 15-4.

Altoona lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Marina Petucci, who had 23 digs and two aces. She has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more digs the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Maraya Bittner, who had 27 assists and six digs.

Altoona's defeat dropped their record down to 0-13-1. As for Central Dauphin, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Altoona will challenge rival Cedar Cliff at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Central Dauphin is set to take on their familiar foe Chambersburg at 6:30 p.m. on the 14th.
