Football Recap: West Aurora Blackhawks vs. Elgin Maroons
West Aurora put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the Elgin Maroons at home to the tune of 56-0. Fans of the Blackhawks have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ point.
Mason Atkins was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 133 yards and four touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Michael Williams helped Atkins out on the ground, rushing for 74 yards and a touchdown on only six carries.
He was just one part of a punishing run game: West Aurora was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 248 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2023.
