Basketball Recap: Evergreen Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Millbrook

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Evergreen Christian). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Millbrook Pioneers on Saturday, sneaking past 62-60. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since January 8, 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Evergreen Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Adriana Jenkins, who went 6-for-9 from beyond the arc on her way to 24 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Maddie Wivell, who posted 14 points along with six assists and five steals.

Evergreen Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Millbrook had strong showings from Jaliah Jackson, who dropped a double-double with 29 points and 17 rebounds, and Jane Moreland, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. That was a full 48.3% of Millbrook's points, marking the third time in a row Jackson has had more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mackenzie Jones, who earned six points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Evergreen Christian's record now sits at 13-17. As for Millbrook, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

When Evergreen Christian and Millbrook next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Evergreen Christian will take on Christ Chapel Academy and their four-game winning streak at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Millbrook will try to stop Sherando's four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
