Basketball Recap: West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Takes a Loss

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] lost against Staunton back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars took a 64-46 bruising from the Staunton Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 85th).

Despite the defeat, West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ali Little went 6 for 10 on her way to 16 points along with five assists and three steals. Little's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrienne Kaufmann, who posted 11 points.

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-11 record this season. As for Staunton, their victory bumped their record up to 18-3.

West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] will take on Seymour in a tournament on Monday. As for Staunton, they will be taking part in a tournament against Marquette Catholic at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
