Denver North has gone 9-1 against George Washington recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Patriots at 1:00 p.m. Denver North is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Denver North came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against ThunderRidge, falling 9-3.
Denver North got a good showing from Leonel Ramirez, who pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Those three hits allowed gave Ramirez a new career-low.
At the plate, Denver North saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was John Miller, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, George Washington never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Harrison with a sharp 11-0 win. Considering the Patriots have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Luke Wiederholt looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Henry Kuntner, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
George Washington is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Denver North, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5.
Denver North came out on top in a nail-biter against George Washington in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
