Basketball Game Preview: Baldwyn Bearcats vs. Potts Camp Cardinals

The Baldwyn Bearcats and the Potts Camp Cardinals will compete for holiday cheer at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Baldwyn has nine straight victories, Potts Camp has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Monday, the stars were shining brightly for Baldwyn in a 59-41 win over Houston.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Potts Camp challenged Independence on Thursday. The Cardinals fell 76-66 to the Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while the Wildcats are ranked 41st).

Baldwyn will need to focus on slowing down Malachi Brownlee, one of several Potts Camp players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jeremiah Nelson, who earned 16 points.

Potts Camp's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Baldwyn, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Baldwyn beat Potts Camp 49-38 in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Do the Bearcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
