Waldron takes loss despite strong efforts from Alyssa Benson and Grace Fischer

Recap: Waldron Mohawks vs. South Decatur Cougars

The Waldron Mohawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 55-37 to South Decatur. If Waldron hoped to take revenge for the 60-35 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.

Waldron's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Grace Fischer, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, and Alyssa Benson who scored 18 points. Fischer hasn't dropped below two blocks for four straight games.

Waldron has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for South Decatur, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-9.

Waldron's road trip will continue as they head out to face Eastern Hancock at 12:30 p.m. on January 13th. Eastern Hancock will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak alive. South Decatur will take on Edinburgh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
