Softball Recap: Youngsville Takes a Loss

Youngsville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 11 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They came up short against the Union City Bears, falling 11-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bears this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-3 back in April.

As for Union City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Considering they have won nine matches by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Union City's part, the team relied heavily on Grace Chapman, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave Chapman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alivia Zielinski, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Coming up, Youngsville is taking a road trip to square off against Lakeview at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Union City, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Maplewood at 8:00 p.m.
