Recap: Oxford Prep Griffins vs. Voyager Vikings
If the Oxford Prep Griffins were riding high off their 74-38 takedown of the Roxboro Community Bulldogs back in December of 2023, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Oxford Prep was beaten by Voyager 72-45 on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oxford Prep in their matchups with Voyager: they've now lost five in a row.
Oxford Prep's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of AleYaun Heggie, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Jamarri Glover who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. That's the first time this season that Glover pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Oxford Prep struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Nasir Westbrook was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with four steals for Voyager. Dwight Anderson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Oxford Prep's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Voyager, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-8.
