Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Coolidge). They were the clear victors by a 26-4 margin over the Ballou Knights on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Colts considering their one-run performance the game before.
Tate Appleforsberg made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up four earned runs but no hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Coolidge's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-12 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Rodrigo Cabrera-Garcia was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Orion Fernandez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
