Softball Recap: Corona del Sol Takes a Loss

Corona del Sol was the 11-8 winner over Sunnyslope when they last played one another last Friday, but their luck changed this time around. The Aztecs came up short against the Vikings on Monday, falling 13-3.

Miquela Tammaro made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Pequeno, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Corona del Sol has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-9 record this season. As for Sunnyslope, they moved to 6-11 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Corona del Sol will venture away from home to face off against Hamilton at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Aztecs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sunnyslope, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Basha at 3:45 p.m. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
