Volleyball Recap: Bear River Comes Up Short

If Bear River was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Tooele on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bears fell just short of the Fremont Silverwolves by a score of 2-1 on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bears of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in August of 2023.

Makell Garn paced Bear River's offense, picking up six kills. Garn got some help from Brynlee Garn and her eight assists. Finally, Robbi Marble kept Bear River's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Fremont was led to victory by Daphnie Moyes and Brooklyn Smedley. Moyes had 11 digs and two aces, while Smedley had eight assists and six digs. What's more, Moyes posted four assists, the most she's had over her last six contests.

Bear River has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Fremont, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Bear River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Ogden on the 3rd. As for Fremont, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Jordan on the 3rd.
