Recap: Kent Denver Sun Devils vs. Prospect Ridge Academy Miners
In what's become a running theme this season, the Kent Denver Sun Devils gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They breezed by Prospect Ridge Academy at home to the tune of 57-22. Given Kent Denver's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Prospect Ridge Academy is ranked 268th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Anya Peper continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and six steals. Caroline Phillips was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, Prospect Ridge Academy saw an underclassman step up: Amelia Waggoner scored eight points along with seven rebounds.
Kent Denver's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kent Denver will take on The Academy at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Academy is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they will be playing at home against Peak to Peak at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Peak to Peak focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Monday.
