Softball Recap: Ironwood Ridge Continues Road Dominance on Friday

Ironwood Ridge had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Casa Grande on Friday. Ironwood Ridge never let Casa Grande get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. Considering the Nighthawks have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Ironwood Ridge got a great performance from Hayden Bores as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, Elizabeth Smith was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Joliee Romero, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Ironwood Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Ironwood Ridge pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Casa Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ironwood Ridge will take on Salpointe Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salpointe Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Ironwood Ridge's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Casa Grande, they will face off against Canyon del Oro at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Canyon del Oro will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something Casa Grande surely won't give up without a fight.
