Baseball Recap: Gateway Comes Up Short

Gateway lost against Skyview back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Olympians lost 14-6 to the Wolverines.

Mervin Loya and Christopher De La Torre did some serious damage despite the final result: Loya scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while De La Torre went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Loya has become a key player for Gateway: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise.

Gateway now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Skyview, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gateway will host Overland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Olympians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trailblazers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season. As for Skyview, they will square off against Thornton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wolverines are facing the Trojans at the right time seeing as the Trojans are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
