A Season-Best Effort from Gonzalo Cano Leads Belen over Los Alamos

Sadly, Gonzalo Cano posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Belen over Los Alamos on Friday. Cano rushed for 205 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 122 yards and a touchdown. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 63 yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Belen and nudges their season record down to 2-4. Cano and Belen will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Highland at 7:00 p.m. on October 17th.

Another Game with at Least 123 Rushing Yards from Jordan Herrera

Jordan Herrera produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Los Alamos to the win on Friday. Herrera's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 123 rushing yards.

The victory (which was Los Alamos' fourth in a row) raised their record to 4-3. Herrera and Los Alamos will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rio Grande at 11:00 a.m. on October 19th.

Chris Melendez was a major factor in Valley's victory over Capital on Friday. Melendez was unstoppable, making six total tackles and defending two passes. He also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Valley's win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-5. Melendez and Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Del Norte at 11:00 a.m. on October 19th.

Carlos Garcia posted a new career-high in rushing yards on Saturday. As a matter of fact, he turned in his biggest game of the season, rushing for 35 yards and two touchdowns.
