Baseball Game Preview: Westlake Wolverines vs. St. Charles

Westlake is 1-9 against St. Charles since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Wolverines will host St. Charles at 4:30 p.m. Westlake has given up an average of 15.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westlake is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Thomas Stone on Friday as they made off with a 21-11 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Larelle Edwards was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Bryson Saunders, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Westlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, St. Charles was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of North Point.

St. Charles' loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Westlake, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-10.

Westlake suffered a grim 11-0 defeat to St. Charles in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
