Volleyball Recap: Chowchilla Takes a Loss

If Chowchilla was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Liberty on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tribe came up short against the Sierra Chieftains on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Tribe were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Chieftains earlier this season, when they won 2-0.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-10, 25-13.

Sierra was led to victory by Jolee Harshman and Nicole Gibson. Harshman had 15 digs and one assist, while Gibson had nine assists and two aces. That's the most aces Gibson has posted over her last nine contests.

Chowchilla's loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 19-7. As for Sierra, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-11 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Chowchilla will face off against rival Yosemite at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Sierra is set to take on their familiar foe Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
