Basketball Recap: Longmont Drops Highest Score of Season Against Thompson Valley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Longmont). Everything went their way against the Thompson Valley Eagles on Saturday as the Longmont Trojans made off with a 63-39 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Longmont's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Foot, who went 7 of 15 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. That's the most points Foot has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was David Valles, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points and three steals.

Longmont was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Thompson Valley's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tom Mandeville, who posted ten points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Dominic Shideler, who put up 12 points and five rebounds.

Longmont's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-3. As for Thompson Valley, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Longmont and Montbello will dust off their jerseys to challenge one another on January 3, 2025. Longmont is facing Montbello at the right time seeing as Montbello is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Thompson Valley, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Mountain View at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Mountain View is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season.
