Baseball Game Preview: Buckingham Charter Knights vs. Valley Christian Lions

Buckingham Charter is 0-10 against Valley Christian since April of 2019 but things could change on Saturday. The Knights will look to defend their home field against the Lions at 11:00 a.m. Buckingham Charter has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Buckingham Charter lost 13-3 to Valley Christian on Tuesday. The Knights have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Valley Christian's part, Jeremiah Pritchard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over four innings pitched. Pritchard has been consistent : he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with seven RBI, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Jack Grexton looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk).

Back at the plate, Tyler Snow was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those stolen bases marked the first that he snagged this season. Domminic Eyster was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Valley Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buckingham Charter only posted an OBP of .208.

The win (which was Valley Christian's fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-2. As for Buckingham Charter, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Saturday as neither team is afraid to steal. Buckingham Charter has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Valley Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
