Basketball Recap: Izzy Lewis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Alta over Brighton

Alta was the 48-47 winner over Brighton when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Alta Hawks took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brighton Bengals on Tuesday.

Alta's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Lewis, who posted ten points. The dominant performance gave Lewis a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alia Baldassano, who scored seven points.

Brighton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sophie Nielsen, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Nielsen is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Lucy Chin, who went 5 for 10 en route to 19 points.

Alta's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Brighton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing East the next time they take the court. Brighton will host East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Alta will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th.
