Basketball Recap: San Marcos Academy Comes Up Short

San Marcos Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Live Oak Classical Falcons and fell 90-20. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1545th, while the Falcons are ranked 293rd).

Live Oak Classical found their leader in sophomore Alex Thompson, who went 8 for 12 en route to 22 points and six boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thompson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Wilson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 assists.

San Marcos Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for Live Oak Classical, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 22-4.

San Marcos Academy will take on Faith Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Live Oak Classical, they will challenge Central Texas Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Live Oak Classical is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 67.6 points per game this season.
