Softball Game Preview: Daviess County Panthers vs. Apollo Eagles

Daviess County is 8-2 against Apollo since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Panthers will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m.

Daviess County barely beat Apollo the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles an 11-0 shutout last Tuesday. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Storey Hume looked comfortable as she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single hit any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Molly Hancock, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Clark, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Apollo has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Daviess County, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
