Recap: Avon Panthers vs. Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams
The Avon Panthers put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They pulled ahead with a 62-61 photo finish over Upper Cape Cod RVT. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Avon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Josiah Guerrier, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Guerrier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Thomas Edwards, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Avon's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-0. As for Upper Cape Cod RVT, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Avon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Falmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Falmouth Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Upper Cape Cod RVT will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Sturgis West at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd.
