Baseball Game Preview: A-Tech Panthers vs. Lafayette Patriots

The A-Tech Panthers will challenge the Lafayette Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are still undefeated after three games, but that won't be the case come Thursday.

On Monday, A-Tech earned a 5-2 win over Sunset Park.

Jovanny Frias and Justin Rivera were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Frias pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Rivera didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. At bat, Frias went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles, while Rivera went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles Frias has posted since back in April of 2025.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jayden Reynoso, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Meanwhile, Lafayette won against Canarsie back in March with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Patriots put the hurt on Sunset Park with a sharp 15-8 victory. Fans of the Patriots have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Lafayette's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for A-Tech, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 3-0.
