Basketball Recap: Blake Rooks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Grand Junction Central over Eagle Valley

Grand Junction Central lost against Eagle Valley back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Grand Junction Central Warriors lost 80-56 to the Eagle Valley Devils. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Devils are ranked 48th).

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Blake Rooks, who went 5 for 12 en route to 12 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Fromang, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

It was another big night for Dylan Zoller, who went 8 for 19 en route to 30 points along with eight boards and seven steals for Eagle Valley. The game was Zoller's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Bates, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 17 rebounds.

Grand Junction Central's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Eagle Valley, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grand Junction Central will take on Montrose at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Grand Junction Central is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. As for Eagle Valley, they will challenge Evergreen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Eagle Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matchups.
