Baseball Recap: Lutheran's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Lutheran waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by an 11-1 margin over the Valor South Austin Falcons. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Keegan Stinson was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent over his last four contests. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and one run. Lutheran is undefeated when Stinson posts three or more RBI, but 3-5-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jack Fiorenza was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Louie Hoch was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Lutheran always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .588 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Lutheran now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Valor South Austin, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Coming up, Lutheran will challenge San Marcos Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Lutheran's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Valor South Austin, they will square off against Hill Country Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Valor South Austin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
