Baseball Recap: Smithton Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Smithton challenged Lincoln on Wednesday. The Tigers came up short against the Cardinals, falling 12-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Tigers of the 10-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Liam Beckett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-1.

Smithton dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Smithton will face off against Northwest at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincoln, they will challenge Cole Camp at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cardinals are facing the Blue Birds at the right time seeing as the Blue Birds are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
