Volleyball Preview: Holyoke Dragons vs. Prairie Mustangs
The Holyoke Dragons will head out on the road to challenge the Prairie Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Last Thursday, it was close, but Holyoke sidestepped Wray for a 3-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Dragons.
Holyoke took Wray into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. The match finished with set scores of 24-26, 25-17, 25-15, 21-25, 15-11.
Meanwhile, Prairie had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged Caliche out 3-2.
Prairie wouldn't go down easily and took Caliche into a fifth set where they got it done with a five-point win. The final score came out to 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 23-25, 15-10.
Holyoke's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 6-9. As for Prairie, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
Holyoke beat Prairie 3-1 in their previous meeting back in August of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holyoke since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
