Basketball Recap: Hope Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Hope Christian Academy played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 76-36 loss at the hands of the First Coast Christian Knights. The Lions have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Hope Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Griffin McCloud went 5 of 9 en route to 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Wilson, who posted eight points.

David Ellis Jr. continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Coast Christian, dropping a triple-double on 20 points, 11 assists, and ten steals. Ellis Jr.'s evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Chase Bradshaw, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hope Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for First Coast Christian, they pushed their record up to 5-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hope Christian Academy will head out to square off against Gainesville Christian Community at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for First Coast Christian, they will venture away from home to challenge Beaches Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
