Softball Recap: Trico Pioneers vs. Breese Central Cougars
Trico had lost three straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 12-12 to make it four. They came up short against the Breese Central Cougars, falling 15-6. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.
Molly Rathert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Another player making a difference was Hayleigh Franklin, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
As for Breese Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-19. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
On Breese Central's side, Madison Ahle was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ahle has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Trico will take on Woodlawn in a tournament on Wednesday. The Pioneers are facing the Cardinals at the right time seeing as the Cardinals are stuck on a three-game losing streak. Breese Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
