Baseball Recap: Credo Has No Trouble Against Technology

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against The Bay School, Credo was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Technology Titans. The result was nothing new for the Gryphon, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Zach McKenna made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Credo's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 3-1 (and 3-4-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Humphreys, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Credo is undefeated when Humphreys posts three or more hits, but 3-5-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Simmons, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Credo now has a winning record of 6-5-1. As for Technology, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Credo will head out on the road to square off against Paso Robles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bearcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Gryphon surely won't give up without a fight. As for Technology, they will square off against Roseland Collegiate Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
