Basketball Game Preview: South Paulding Spartans vs. Douglas County Tigers

Having just played yesterday, the South Paulding Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Douglas County Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. South Paulding knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Douglas County likes a good challenge.

On Friday, South Paulding came up short against Alexander and fell 65-55. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Cougars are ranked 34th).

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Douglas County challenged Chapel Hill on Friday. Douglas County took a 74-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Chapel Hill. The Tigers have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Douglas County's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for South Paulding, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-7 record this season.

South Paulding couldn't quite finish off Douglas County in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 and fell 49-47. Can South Paulding avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
