Baseball Game Preview: Lake Catholic Cougars vs. Girard Indians

The Lake Catholic Cougars will take on the Girard Indians at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Lake Catholic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Holy Name get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.

The result came thanks to Patrick Radigan's shutout, as he gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on A.J. Trobenter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Pete Malchesky, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.

Meanwhile, Girard hadn't done well against Ursuline recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Indians came out on top against the Fighting Irish by a score of 4-1. The victory was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won three contests in a row.

Dominick Tolone spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Girard saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joey Alejars, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI. Those two hits gave Alejars a new career-high.

Lake Catholic's record is now 21-4. As for Girard, their record now sits at 16-12.
