Basketball Game Preview: North Gaston Wildcats vs. North Lincoln Knights

The North Gaston Wildcats and the North Lincoln Knights will round out the year against one another at at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Wednesday, North Gaston had to suffer through a 62-15 loss at the hands of Huss. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 501st, while the Huskies are ranked 146th).

Hailey Holmes was North Gaston's leading scorer, having posted eight points. Marisiddaiah Crocker took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Meanwhile, North Lincoln came tearing into Friday's contest with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They breezed by the Greyhounds to the tune of 78-44. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 34 points or more this season.

North Lincoln pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for North Gaston, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.

North Gaston took their win against North Lincoln in their previous meeting back in December of 2017 by a conclusive 54-30. Does North Gaston have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Lincoln turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
