Softball Recap: Wheaton-Warrenville South Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Wheaton-Warrenville South had won four straight on the road, but on Friday they bumped their record up to 16-6 to make it five. They never let the Wheaton North Falcons get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The game was the first time the Tigers have beaten the Falcons on their field since May 5, 2021.

The result came thanks to Presley Wright's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Wheaton-Warrenville South saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Becca Chaney, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Wheaton North, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 17-6. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.75 runs.

On Wheaton North's side, Hannah Wulf spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up ten Ks.

Looking ahead, Wheaton-Warrenville South will challenge Plainfield South at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Wheaton North, they will take on Hinsdale South at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Hornets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.33 runs per game on average), something the Falcons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
