Soccer Game Preview: Kemp vs. Mabank

The Kemp Yellowjackets will head out to take on the Mabank Panthers at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Kemp lost 4-1 to Caddo Mills on Saturday. That's two games in a row now that the Yellowjackets have lost by exactly three goals.

Meanwhile, Mabank was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Sunnyvale, falling 9-1. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 743rd, while Sunnyvale are ranked 299th).

Mabank's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7-1. As for Kemp, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5-1.

Kemp beat Mabank 4-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Kemp since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
