Baseball Recap: Manistee Takes a Loss

If Manistee was riding high fresh off their 12-3 takedown of Hart on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mariners fell just short of the Shelby Tigers by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Mariners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Owen Polcyn was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Robinson, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Manistee's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Shelby, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Manistee will head out on the road to take on Fremont at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shelby, they will challenge Mason County Central at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
