Baseball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Rebels vs. Guy-Perkins Thunderbirds

After both having extra time off, the Sacred Heart Rebels and the Guy-Perkins Thunderbirds will shake off the rust and duke it out at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sacred Heart comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Sacred Heart is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell 12-9 to Hector last Thursday.

Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Guy-Perkins brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on Brinkley with a sharp 16-1 win last Thursday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Thunderbirds as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Owen Glover made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Glover was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those stolen bases were his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Urijah Fortner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Dawson Watkins, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

The win got Guy-Perkins back to even at 3-3. As for Sacred Heart, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Sacred Heart suffered a grim 14-2 defeat to Guy-Perkins in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Sacred Heart avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
