Football Game Preview: Johnson City Eagles vs. San Saba Armadillos

For the first time this season, Johnson City will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. After each having a week off, they and the San Saba Armadillos will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Johnson City's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last three games.

Johnson City took a loss when they played away from home back in September, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Friday. They put the hurt on Thrall with a sharp 41-18 win. The contest was close at halftime, but the Eagles turned on the heat in the second half with 28 points.

Johnson City can attribute much of their success to Wyatt Lorenzen, who threw for 151 yards and three TDs, and Heston Hohenberger, who rushed for 106 yards on only 11 carries.

Meanwhile, San Saba narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Hamilton 17-14. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Armadillos.

Johnson City now has a winning record of 3-2. As for San Saba, they now also have a winning record of 3-2.

Johnson City might still be hurting after the 38-15 defeat they got from San Saba when the teams last played back in October of 2024. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Eagles were down 28-7.
