Basketball Recap: Goliad Extends Winning Streak to Four

Goliad waltzed into their game on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 41-39 win over the Nixon-Smiley Mustangs. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Tigers have posted since November 25, 2024.

Goliad now has a winning record of 15-14. As for Nixon-Smiley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-17.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Tigers duke it out with the Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on February 18th. Columbus knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Goliad likes a good challenge. As for Nixon-Smiley, they will welcome Stockdale at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
