Spearfish faced Aberdeen Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Spartans fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 3-2. The Spartans' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Spearfish sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 19-25, 25-13, 15-25, 15-12.

Adelyn Bouman paced Spearfish's offense, picking up 16 kills. Bouman got some help from Kali Reiners and her 45 assists. Reiners was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Spearfish's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-5. As for Aberdeen Central, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Spearfish wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Pierre T.F. Riggs on the 13th. As for Aberdeen Central, they have also already played their next game, a 3-0 win against Sturgis Brown on the 13th.
